• We as Professional Surveyors must strive to promote surveying as a profession. Legislation is constantly trying to restrict us as Professionals and we must always fight for the need, knowledge, and tutelage of our current, and future, registered individuals. We need sharp minds to strive to follow in the footsteps of our mentors. The Board of Directors of ISPLS must lead these efforts along with its membership to assure that our surveying profession is never discredited.
• I am a proponent of the Young Surveyor’s Network, the ISPLS Workforce Development Committee, the continued offering of school tuition assistance via the way of IPLSF and ISPLS Chapter Grants, and also the preservation of our history through the Surveyors Historical Society.
• We should never forget that a machine should never replace the thought process and common sense of the Professional Surveyor and that we should strive to supply a quality product to our clients.
• Lastly: “Cursed is anyone who moves their neighbor’s boundary stone.” Then all the people shall say, “Amen!”. Deuteronomy 27:17

I believe the best thing we can do is give what we have to those who need it. My personal mission statement is, “connecting people from where they are to where they need to be”. This involves three steps: 1. Listening to their needs, thoughts, feelings, wants. 2. Developing a co-vision of their needed destination. 3. Help build a bridge to get there.
We need more surveyors. Many of our surveyors are doing a great job promoting the profession. I am excited to help those young future surveyors develop into good men and women that respect and empower their communities to be better. That’s what gives me goosebumps.
At some point you look around and realize that the community needs you to step up. I think surveyors are stepping up in a big way. I enjoy teaching others about our craft. I’ve done that with Rod Kelly and a few workforce development events and through local schools in my area.
Lastly, I think we are good people. You shouldn’t hide good people from communities. How can we be change agents in our communities? We discuss surveyors on Mount Rushmore. Maybe we need to reinvigorate the passion for community health and prosperity that our hallowed surveyors displayed.

I am passionate about advocating for the growth and recognition of our surveying profession. Surveyors play an essential role in shaping the infrastructure and development that drives our communities forward, yet our contributions often go unnoticed. I firmly believe it’s our responsibility to promote the value of this profession through education, mentorship, and collaboration.
We must inspire the next generation to see surveying as a vital and rewarding career path. This means investing in outreach efforts, championing the latest technology, and upholding the highest professional standards. I am committed to working to ensure our field not only thrives today but is positioned for an innovative and sustainable future.
